Weekly Photo Challenge – Favorite Place

This weeks Photo Challenge, Favorite Place, asks us to “share an image of your happy place, a secret spot you love, or a faraway location you return to again and again.” For me that is an easy answer. Chiang Mai, Thailand stole my heart in 2009 and 2010; the actual place that I feel is my home away from home is Horizon Village and Resort.

Very close after that is Tweechol Botanical Garden; it backs up to Horizon and includes lots of plants from around the world, a maze/labyrinth, topiary, paddle/pedal boats, a zoo, and a museum, just to name a few.

Then there’s the beach…the sound of the waves, sand beneath the feet and squishing between the toes. Anywhere from Ventura to points North, more favorite places.

Another favorite place is sitting somewhere next to a stream, listening to the water bubbling over the rocks.

Then there’s my sweet boy, his favorite place (when it’s cold) is snuggled up in my bed.

Weekend Freebie 06-01-18: Soft Colors

Each weekend, starting Friday morning, I will be giving away something for free; to start it might only be textures, but as I get more into (digital) mixed media, it might be digital stencils, digital brushes, or even an image that you can use. I hope that you enjoy creating with the freebies.
Today’s freebie is a soft focus photo of a small part of the Mexican Sage Bush in my backyard.

Nani, and my first cherita

I recently found out about Cherita‘s from Mary, at Cactus Haiku, last month. Since I like writing the occasional haiku, I thought I’d try writing a cherita. I had forgotten about trying to write one, when Mary asked me yesterday if I had written one yet. I told her when my image was finished I was going to give it a try. Well, here is my first attempt.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Silence

This weeks Photo Challenge, Silence, asks us to “show what silence looks like.” The haiku expresses my feelings on this part of a small, neighborhood park. I prefer walking my little dog around the park when we are pretty much the only ones there. Nothing but silence…with the occasional birds chirping, or some ground squirrels signaling danger to the other squirrels in the area.
