Friday Freebie – Jan 5, 2018: Distress Oxide 1

To kick off 2018 I’m starting a new post category, Friday Freebie. Every Friday I will be giving away something for free; to start it might only be textures, but as I get more into (digital) mixed media, it might be digital stencils, digital brushes, or even an image that you can use. I hope that you enjoy creating with the freebies.

Today’s freebie was created using Distressed Oxide on Mixed Media paper. I scanned it in at 600 dpi so you have a high resolution image to play with. The final image size, after shrinking down a bit, is 6000 x 4000 @ 300 dpi.

I would love to see what you create with this texture. Feel free to leave a link to where you’ve posted a picture.

  1. I did an experiment using the texture with my secondlife mermaid image using photoshop blend modes and did a post on it. If they click on your texture image, it should take them here — first time I added a link to an image on wordpress so took a couple tries as the link kept disappearing.

Probably not what you imagine someone might do but I hope you enjoy it

    • It’s beautiful, Mary! Sometimes that is how I use textures, other times I blend different textures and change the blending mode, then add other elements…a sort of digital mixed media look. Thank you for trying the texture and linking back to this site.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Flowers

This week Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge is Flowers. That happens to be one of my favorite topics to photograph. Using my camera’s multiple exposure feature, I captured the dreamy look I was after. I used Topaz Studio to convert to Black and White and add grain.
