Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Debbie, the creative person behind DSPhotographyDA, and I live in Southern California. For me, creating is as important as breathing and eating. It nurtures me on a deep level and keeps me sane.
I got bit by the photography bug in 8th grade, when I took my first and only, photography class. Taking pictures was fun, but developing them in the darkroom was fascinating. Watching the photos develop on what looked like a blank piece of paper was mesmerizing. I got my first camera when I was 19 and felt invincible.
I didn’t get into digital art until I got a first generation iPad mini a few years ago. I followed people on Instagram to see what apps they were using to create their art and purchased the ones I thought could express my vision. I was as free as a bird, and felt myself soaring higher and higher as I created art from my photographs. I continue to learn and experiment with many different forms of digital art.
I’ve recently discovered the world of Art Journaling, so I’m looking forward to getting my feet wet with the non-digital medium of mixed media – watercolors, distressed oxides, alcohol inks, color crystals (Brusho) and more. I will more than likely add my adventures to the blog and, maybe even my portfolio.
My latest passion is card making. Using either card kits from Hunkydory, or creating my own using different papers. It is a relaxing pastime.
Is to share with you the beauty I see in flowers, nature…and life. I wish to touch your heart in some way and, if I’m lucky, maybe even touch your soul.
My parents…for your love, and believing in me.
Mark S. Johnson’s book “Botanical Dreaming” for giving wings to what had previously only been a dream/idea.
You, my readers, for taking time out of your day to peruse this site and my artwork.
